ABOUT ME

Welcome, and thank you for taking the time to read my page - my name is Lillian.  I love my family, my pets, my work and have too many hobbies to mention!

I am originally an Islander (which would explain my affinity with the sea and water, and the choice of name for my business).  I am at home where I can see and hear the sea, the soothing peace of its lapping on the beach or its power unleashed against the shore.  These reflect times when I have moved through seasons and phases to reach key points in my life, the peaceful times and the fierce ones as well.

I have previously worked in many different roles, a few of which have been family support with adults and children, in pastoral roles and in community work.   I have become very conscious that at times we all need someone to listen in a non-judgmental and empathic way.   It may be during difficult times, or as we overcome obstacles to move forward to who and where we want to be, we all have a need to be heard.  That need is often deeper than the words we use, but we all desire to be truly understood, to communicate the meaning deep within and to know we are accepted for who we are, for our own unique self.  We all want to be heard and yet, in our modern world it remains difficult sometimes to find someone to truly listen, to hear what we need to say.

Relationships, even with those we love most, can be a source of joy or at times a source of confusion or even heartache.  This is why I chose to train in relational counselling - I believe that whether it is at home, at work, or socially, we are constantly trying to understand ourselves, others and the world of people.  Whether it is in the past, where relationships have influenced us, or if it is looking forward into the future, taking what we have learned and who we have become to help us manage our existing relationships and build new ones, it is also often the case that we struggle to find meaningful relationships.  We may feel isolated or alone and want to reach out but we are not sure who we can trust.

We all need time to come aside and reflect, to consider ourselves and our own world and connect with the things that matter most in life.  My counselling space is a safe space, a confidential space, and it provides that therapeutic relationship where you can find understanding and emotional support.

A space where you will be heard.
